My Quest – The Slope of Information

Last night I came across some research work by Laurence Doyle related to the ‘information theory’ and I was actually impressed (by a SETI scientist for a change). We all are aware about the human efforts to communicate with the so called ‘aliens’. For more than 50 years we have been monitoring the universe chatter which includes the electromagnetic waves to detect or should I say overhear the communication which goes around the universe. Well, the implication of that being the existence of another civilization but let’s not get into the Hollywood stuff.

So, all we humans can hear is static not even some alien gibberish. There could be many reasons for that static. Firstly monitoring a single frequency might the silliest thing to do considering the fact the information is more efficient conveyed through broadband i.e. range of frequencies.  And if you are planning to send some information across galaxies and millions of light years definitely you won’t use a single frequency unless, you are as optimist as a human being from planet called ‘earth’.

My Quest – Time: The Mysterious Dimension

Everything keeps changing whether it’s the smallest thing or the largest thing you can ever imagine.
A 6 year old asking me a question “What is time?”  I didn’t understand his actual question and answered its 5.30pm but then I paid attention and realized his question isn’t as easy as it may appear.
Give it a try….
How will you define TIME?
If you ask me my answer would be something like this……

Time is what keeps everything from happening all at once, and so time is that part of the world that orders events in a certain way so they happen sequentially, from beginning to end.

My Quest – Our Search for Life

Every one of us has atleast for once wondered that Are We Alone? Or Is There Someone Watching us? Thanks to a couple of Sci-fi movies I wasted a lot of my time thinking about aliens and ET when I look at it now calling it wastage of time would be a bit harsh. Looking for ET life is now trending and I must say there is lot of money and technology which is being allocated to this search. I would like to point a project which is huge and pretty famous – SETI (The search for extraterrestrial intelligence)

If you ask me, do you think life exists elsewhere?? I would strongly say YES.  Even if I think of life and earth as a 1 in a million or even 1 in a billion possibility there is a strong chance of we not being alone. There are more stars in the universe than all the grains of sand on every beach on Earth, and countless planets orbit those stars. So it would be arrogant to think that we are the only creatures in the cosmos. I think it’s easy to imagine life on other worlds, and I’m not alone.

The basic way to look at things is to compare the life of earth. Life on Earth can survive in extreme environments, but can life survive on other worlds? It’s a mystery set in space… And that makes it tough to investigate because the human race has barely left Earth. Searching for clues is incredibly difficult. But we are lucky……

My Quest: The Big Bang Theory

How did it all began?? Well it isn’t the easiest question to answer but I think we humans have a pretty good idea about it. Whenever you try to find the origin of something we have no option but to go backwards. But when that something is our Universe we need to backward a lot and when I say ‘a lot’ I mean billions of years. So inorder to find an answer we need to go backwards and fast, inorder to do that we rely on the fastest travelling thing we know ‘LIGHT’

We all have heard about the BIG BANG, the point where everything began but how do we really know that’s the way it was?? After all nobody was around that time to see that happen.
What makes the Big Bang Singularity Theory so widely accepted??
Simple, because it makes sense and it is modeled as per every law of physics we know.
I must say I was pretty convinced too (I still am but…..).

My Quest – Introduction

“We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if mankind is to survive”.
– Albert Einstein

I think mind is the most powerful asset a human being can ever have. It took me quite some time to figure that out. Initially everything for me was not worth bothering and I kind of accepted the things as they were without questioning. In my defense I was just another kid who didn’t knew what was going around him but life was moving ahead pretty smoothly I must say. Now if I look back I wonder how I made it through.

It was in my eight grade that I failed for the first time in my life not that I use to come first and suddenly the unthinkable happened. But yes it was something I never experienced but little did I know that the best thing that could ever happen to me was waiting after that. I got the two best teachers and I was never the same after that. I started to make sense and began asking questions and more than that trying to find answers for that. But still I didn’t realize the importance and actual significance of the questions which I was bold enough to ask myself.
